Arrival at Urumqi in Xinjiang, an area of the unparalleled scenery and cultural diversity, you will be greeted by your tour guide and transferred to hotel. Free at leisure for the rest of the day.
Take a driving for 120km northeast to visit the holy Heavenly Lake (Tianchi). The beautiful lake is flanked by rugged pines and cypresses, with clear melting waters reflecting the surrounding of snow capped mount Bogeda. After the tour you will be transferred back to downtown, you can then take a short visit to Erdaoqiao Grand Bazaar, which is believed to be the largest outdoor market in town.
Heavenly Lake is located half way up Bogda Peak in Fukang County, 110km east of Urumqi City. As a natural alpine lake, it has an elevation of 1,980 meters. In the shape of a half moon, the lake is 3,400 meters long, about 1,500 meters wide, and 105 meters at the deepest point. With limpid water, the lake shines like a sapphire under the sun and is surrounded by green mountains. At the southeast end of the lake is the magnificent Bogda Peak, meaning ‘Sacred Mountain’ in the Mongolian language.
Erdaoqiao is situated at the Erdaoqiao Block of South Jiefang Road in Urumqi, where you’ll find a bustling market filled with fruit, clothing, crafts, knives, carpets and many antique items. The market has special space for grand ethnic songs and dances performances, and the folk street is furnished with a miniature landscape of Xinjiang’s attractions. On Sunday, there are more stalls and more goods than any other days.
After breakfast, you will take a long drive northwards Fuyun County, which is 400km away. You can visit the Multicolored Stone Bay during the way.
Multicolored Stone Bay Located at the Gobi desert, about 220 kilometers from Fuyun County of Xinjiang, Multicolored Stone Bay is composed of dozens of colorful hills and odd rocks. It not only has impressive views, but is also a natural treasure, which contains large reserves of oil, gold and precious stones.
When tour is over, you will be transferred back to your hotel, free on your own at the rest of the day.
Continue your driving for another 400km to the border city Burqin. Upon arrival, have a break and explore the city by yourself. Located at the southwest foot of Altai Mountains and the northern edge of Junggar Basin, Burqin is a small county in the border area with Russia, Kazakstan and Mongolia.
Only 150km away from Burqin, Kanas is a fairytale land known for its beautiful mountain lake. Today your sightseeing will be a visit to Kanas Lake Natural Reserve area after arrival.
Burqin Kanas LakeIn Mongolian language Kanas means “lake in canyon”. Located near the Altai Mountains, it is China’s deepest freshwater lake famous for its Swiss view, and home to 798 species of plants and 117 varieties of birds. Embraced by snow-capped mountains and dense forest, the lake, takes on different colors in different seasons.
It’s the second day you spend in this fairy land. You will enjoy your own exploration there. If you are interested, can take a boat trip your own, which is highly recommended, and also take a visit to a local Tuwa family.
Also living in the midst of all this beauty are more than 1,400 people of the Tuwa Minority whose ancestors came from Siberia over 1,000 years ago. Believing in Lamaism, it is a valiant ethnic minority with a long history. Tuwa people speak Turcic, resembling the language of Kazakh, and live by hunting and grazing. They also have an individual folk custom.
Today, be transferred back to Burqin but through another road, a scenic one and you will stop at Kazak yurts on the grasslands. You may also visit the Burqin River. Fed by a complex of thaw glaciers, Burqin River is 25 kilometers long with the deepest place being about 176 meters. It covers an area of 5588 square kilometers. Home to a variety of plants, it is an ideal place for sightseeing.
Today, be transferred back to Urumqi, on the way, you will take a short visit to the Monster City.
Wuerhe Monster City Set against the Halahlat Mountain, the Wuerhe Monster City covers an area of 30 square kilometers. It is a natural Yardan geological feature shaped by wind erosion and looks like ruined castles or various kinds of animals. In summer and autumn, heavy storms usually blow along the valley, raising the sands and whistling like ghosts and wolves, which give the place another name called the Wind City.
